Synopsis
Allergic Contact Dermatitis (ACD) is an occupational health hazards.
Risk assessment and management of allergic contact dermatitis require
Guinea pig Maximization or Buhler tests which are well established. The
Principle of 3 Rs (i.e. Reduction, Refinement and Replacement) promoted
us to validate alternate method, which is well accepted by regulators across
the globe i.e. Local Lymph Node Assay (LLNA). Strength of LLNA is as follows:
Scientific:
· Sufficiently validated for a hazard assessment
· It is mechanistically-based
· required only induction exposure
· Provides quantitative/qualitative assessment
· Dose response assessment
· Suitable for testing of coloured test article
Animal welfare
· Reduce the number of animals
· Reduce the animal distress
· Required less duration to complete the experiment
